chef kevin bach’s Vietnamese-inspired cuisine

carefully crafted popups & catering

I'm Kevin Bach, a self-taught chef from San Jose, California, and a student at the University of Puget Sound. I discovered my love for cooking in college, which helped me build a new home and community in Tacoma, Washington. Under the guidance of my mentor, Chef Jan Parker, I honed my culinary skills and developed a passion for the exploration and intermixing of Vietnamese, Asian, and local ingredients in my cooking. You'll find me working with Chef Jan Parker at farmers' markets, catering events, and my own Bachchoyboy pop-ups.

I spent the summer of 2022 as the chef-in-residence at Que by Kaarem in Saigon, Vietnam. I learned to ride a motorbike, shop for ingredients, build relationships with local vendors at the wet markets, and develop new menus every week. This incredible experience fueled my culinary passion and expanded my perspective on food. I continue to use my passion for food through research, as an intern for Nourish by Stanford CARE, developing healthy diabetic-friendly recipes that resonate with Asian diets.

Follow my culinary journey and stay updated on upcoming pop-ups via @bachchoyboy. You can find me studying, playing basketball, and DJing when I'm not cooking.
